Frequently Asked Questions about Log Book servicing

To help you understand Log Book servicing and learn more about Gulf Parts & Service in Weipa, please read the questions and answers below:

What is a Log Book Service?

A log book service is a vehicle service carried out to the manufacturers instructions as displayed in the service and warranty log book supplied with your vehicle.

Why do I need a log book service?

Log book servicing is required to ensure proper maintenance of your vehicle as well as maintain your manufacturer's warranty.

What happens if I miss a Service?

If you have a vehicle booked in for a service that has missed the previous service, than the requirements for the missed service should be carried out 'in addition' to the requirements of the service now due. For example, if you have a vehicle that is booked in for a 110,000km service and it did not have the 100,000km service completed, and that service included something specific such as a coolant flush, then this item should be completed as well as the requirements for the 110,000km service.

Will I lose my New Car Warranty if I don't go back to the dealer?

No.  There is no requirement under the Australian Consumer Law for a vehicle to be serviced by an authorised dealer in order for the consumer guarantees and manufacturer’s warranty to apply, provided the service is carried out in accordance with the specified requirements by a qualified mechanic or service centre like us. Gulf Parts & Service is fully qualified to service new vehicles. We have more information on this for you in our article. Please click here.

I have lost my Log Book, do I need it?

A log book is not required, but it aids in you being able to keep accurate records of your vehicle service history, so remember to keep all your servicing records in a convenient spot. It is possible to purchase a replacement log book from a manufacturer or replace it with a generic option.

Do you provide Digital reports for the work you have done? or a digital report of what's wrong with my car?
